Spare the Rod, Save the Child
The American Journal of Preventive Medicine carries a report of a study on corporal punishment of children.
The research was conducted by a medical team at the University of North Carolina
- Chapel Hill. One discovery
was that spanking with an object rather than the hand raised by nine times the likelihood of other forms of abuse.
Parents who spanked frequently were far more likely to beat, burn or shake their children.
Pediatrician Adam Zolotor, lead author of the study, wrote "Parents get
angry when they're spanking, and it's not working. . . If a child gets spanked
so often, they just don't care any more and will misbehave anyway."
But what is a biblical perspective? Read the article, below (here).

"Are All Churches Safe?"
Brenda Branson, in an article
on her website brokenpeople.org,
talks about differences between a healthy church and a toxic church.
Brenda writes, "Many people turn to the church for help when
they are experiencing deep emotional pain from personal struggles or abusive
relationships. Some have found acceptance and unconditional love from
compassionate people. Others have been severely wounded by the insensitivity and
judgmental attitudes in churches where guilt, manipulation, fear, and shame
abound.
